Surprise! I’m talking about Jane Addams Hull-House! Located where indigent European immigrants resided, Hull-House served its community as Chicago’s first social settlement. Nobel Peace Prize winner Jane Addams, and Ellen Gates Starr, two Progressive Era social reformers, rented the deteriorating mansion and founded the field of social work.
Hull-House is a museum these days, which you can take a virtual tour at your pleasure. They did a great job of recording walking tours and providing wonderful imagery so you can get good close ups of the art and words.
