Surprise! I’m talking about the University of Chicago, specifically what happened beneath Stag Field, where they produced the world’s first self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction! Yes, the Manhattan Project, as in the bombs that hit Japan and ended World War 2. Now when I said great power, yes, there’s the obvious in reference to nuclear power. But the word itself – great – and let’s include – amazing – doesn’t always mean good things. It just is, and it’s the intention and context that matters.
The tremendous loss of life cannot be forgotten. Nuclear energy itself isn’t bad, and there is still potential to provide clean, safe, and affordable energy for the masses. And, it’s the folks at the University of Chicago who are looking into that.
