Surprise! I’m talking about Ogden Ave, one of the diagonal streets that were originally trails used by Native Americans. (But yeah, Twisted Spoke that’s also behind me does make a noteworthy burger!) And I specifically mentioned Ogden, as it was the first trail to become a plank road (which then became a street). I’ve talked about some of these in my neighborhood video series before, especially the one on Jefferson Park, since there’s several diagonals! Most of the major diagonal streets in Chicago that head toward what’s now the downtown area are indeed old trails! Chicago would not be Chicago without the knowledge and wisdom of the First Peoples.
